The Folded Ear

A domesticated cat is one of the most popular animals for a pet all over the world. There are over 600 million homes today which own a domesticated cat as a pet. They are considered some of the best pets as they are able to bond with their owners and they help in keeping the house clean from vermin and other common house pests such as snakes and scorpions. They communicate with their fellow cats and with their owners by meowing, hissing, growling among other sounds. They are also considered to be very smart and active as they can be taught simple commands and some tricks. The Scottish Fold gets its name from where it came from and the unique set of ears it has. The ears of this breed are basically folded due to a cartilage which grows in the ear of this cat. This appearance has been described as the owl appearance. The ears of the Scottish Fold would begin to fold in three weeks or twenty one days. With the use of selective breeding, some cats are known to have completely flat ears.

The Scottish Fold is a medium sized domestic cat which weighs around nine pounds to thirteen pounds for males and the females which are generally smaller would way anywhere from six pounds to nine pounds. The head of this breed is round; similar to the whisker pads which are also round. The jaw and chin of a Scottish Fold is firm and strong. Their eyes are also well rounded and large which gives them a sweet expression. The nose is generally small, short and has a gentle curve. They also have a tail which is flexible and the length ranges from medium to long depending on the size of the cat. The coat of a shorthair Scottish Fold is dense and plush and has a full coat on the face. The longhair Scottish Fold is fairly the same except on the length of the hair.

Their unique, loveable appearance with unique features makes the Scottish Fold a very popular cat. They are highly in demand and their cost are considerably higher compared that of more common breeds. They are also a placid and good natured breed which is typically easy going. They could also easily adjust and get along with the other pets of their owner very well. They basically are playful, loyal, soft-spoken, intelligent and affectionate and are also known to form very deep bonds with their owners and they are very loving.
