Siberian Cats

If you are a feline lover but has an allergy towards cats, this cat breed is for you. Siberian cats are known to be hypoallergenic. They have lower or no amount of substances that can trigger an allergy attacks. Cats, in general contains allergens. They have this substance called “Fed d 1” protein that is present in their saliva and danders from sebaceous glands in their skin. Siberian cats have a relatively lower content of this protein compared to other cats. You can say goodbye to your allergies symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, itching and other unwanted signs and at the same time have the privilege of owning these lovable cat breed. However, different people have different sensitivities to this protein; it is best to visit a pet shop and test your allergic reaction by cuddling a Siberian cat.

Siberian cats came from the forest of Russia. They are once regarded as exotic pets and the Noble family owns them. By the end of the 16th century, the pilgrims from Russia brought their cats with them and allowed to mate with European and Asian cats. Because of Russia’s extreme and harsh weather condition, only few of their cats survived. Russian cats that survived have developed thick ruff and fluffy ears, big paws with thick furs underneath and thick, layered coat of body fur. Such physical characteristics enabled them to tolerate the cold and harsh weather. They also developed strong immunity against infectious disease as well as strong muscles for hunting food.

There is not much said about the Siberian cats. However, one can find them in centuries-old Russian paintings. This is due to the fact that Russia is under the communistic rule and the only thing that matters to them is the survival of the people. Hence, they regard the Siberian cats as more of a pest controller than a household pet. The first formal written documents about these cats is found in the book “Our Cats and All About Them” by Harrison Wier in 1871 in England. The second is on “Brehms Tierleben” book in 1925. The Siberian cat is a fairly new introduction to the United States in 1990. Since then, the demand for Siberian cats increased over the past years.

Siberian cats come with these point colors: seal, blue, gold, red and other colors in the rainbow. However, due to its rarity, you might not see these colors in our neighborhood. They can leap at great distances, agile and are strong and powerful. They can weigh between 4.5 to 9.1 kilograms.

Siberian cats are a great pet. They are affectionate, loving, playful, outgoing and intelligent. These characteristics make the Siberian cat as dog-like. They can greet their owners at their doors just like a dog. They enjoy the outdoors so much. As mentioned here, Siberian cats are extremely playful; hence, it is important to give them something like a ball or have them something to do to keep them busy. If they don’t have something to play with, they may play or destroy your home furniture. Even for such, they are great pets.
