Sphynx Cats Sphynx cats are worthy of attention because of its hairless body. Also known as “Canadian Hairless” They are not really hairless, it is only that its hair is short and has the touch of Chamois leather. Because of its hairlessness, some feline lovers might regard that the Sphynx cat may also be hypoallergenic. However, this may not be the case. Because it lacks hairs, the body oils that it secretes stays and builds up in the skin which can trigger an allergy attack. It is necessary to have a regular cleaning or bathing for your Sphinx cat at least once a week. Because of this need for frequent bathing, it is advisable to use mild shampoo or soap to prevent skin drying. Sphinx cats should also stay at home always. It should not be exposed to sunlight as this may cause them sunburn. If you are planning to have one, then it is necessary to install sunblock screen and shades at your home to protect them from sunlight. They also have the tendency to go outdoors because of the fact that they so inquisitive.
Sphynx cats eat more food than an average cat. An average cat takes 80 kilocalories of food per kilogram of body weight. This only means that the Sphynx cat should be fed with more food with greater calories. This is because they have higher rate of metabolism that is needed to maintain a warm body temperature.
The Sphinx cat is a natural mutation. These cat breed are the rarest cats in the world. It occurs every fifteen years. Cat breeders breed this cat with other naturally short-haired cats to propagate and create sounder and healthier breeds. Sphinx cats are also rare.
If you want to have one, you must be ready for its care and maintenance need. Keep in mind however, even if needs an extra care, you will be rewarded of its loyalty and affection for you.
