Getting to Know the Abyssinian cat Most people consider their pets as a family member. They take good care of them as well as shower them with love and care. Whenever their owners are sad, they try to make them feel better. Animals have their own way to make their owners cuddle them. They like the feeling of being the center of attention and are spoiled at times. Some people even dress their pets up just to show how much they adore them. However, you still need to know the temperament of your preferred pet.
Take the Abyssinian cat as an example. This breed of cat is said to come from Egypt from a female kitten named Zula. It is believed that all Abyssinians found in the Americas, Australia and Europe descended from her. With around a thousand years of genealogy, the aforementioned cat breed is now one of the most popular in the United States. One of the reasons why the Abyssinian is one of the favorite pets is because of its intelligence. These cats can easily find a way to get what they want without the help of their owner. They too are affectionate creatures that like to have a shoulder ride from their owners.
Such cats have well developed muscles, slender legs, and fine bone structure as well as small and oval paws. One notable feature of the Abyssinian cat is the M-shaped marking found on the fur on its forehead. As for the color, ruddy is the common coat color. This has a reddish-brown color for the base with some black ticking. The cinnamon base having chocolate brown ticking is the sorrel color. Aside from the two said colors, there are other color variations too. On the rarer side, red, lilac and tortoiseshell are among them.
If you are planning to buy an Abyssinian while it is still a kitten, wait for it to get older so that you can see its true color. During the early life of the Abyssinians, they have dark coats. It takes some time before its real coat color becomes present. However, as they mature, it will lighten. After several months, the final coat color becomes evident. Just be patient and you will see what lies beneath the dark coat of your kitten.
There are many cat breeds out there to help you decide which to buy. There is nothing wrong if you do some research first because you need to know what the animal’s behavior is and how you will take care of it. Buying a pet is something easy. The only problem here is if you can take good care of the animal. Some pet owners do not seem to care on what the animal really needs and ignores it. Ask yourself many times if you can handle the responsibility of having a pet in your space because if there is the slightest trace of uncertainty, you had better delay this a little longer. However, you can also buy a cat for your kid and make him learn the responsibilities of being its rightful owner.
